The Chair is pleased to co-sponsor the event Bridging Divides: Understanding Antisemitism and Islamophobia. This event will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd, at 5:00 – 6:30 PM PST in the University of Oregon’s Gerlinger Lounge and via live stream here.
While most people agree that antisemitism and Islamophobia are harmful and divisive, the current conflict in the Middle East complicates our understanding of their definitions, the behaviors they encompass, and the strategies needed to combat them. Two prominent scholars and public intellectuals, David Schraub of Lewis and Clark Law School and Hussein Ibish of the Arab Gulf States Institute (formerly with the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee), will provide historical insights and contemporary analysis to help us navigate this complex and confusing issue.
Seating is limited to the first 125 attendees but all of the UO community is encouraged to attend, and priority will be given to UO students.
