UNESCO Chair and University of Oregon Professor Steven Shankman, shares reflections on how the COVID-19 pandemic affected his teaching, reading, and writing over the past several months through oracle poetry and heartfelt writings. Some of the reflections Shankman reveals include how teaching a class on Levinas and Tolstoy in prison to a mix of university students and inmates at the Oregon State Penitentiary through the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program needed to be amended in response to COVID-19, and the killing of George Floyd which lead to uprisings and protests nationwide.
