UNESCO 2009/2010 Academic Year Interns
for Graduate and Undergraduate Students
The UNESCO Intern Program at the Center for Intercultural Dialogue allows students the opportunity to develop programming, facilitate collaborations amongst students, faculty, community members and international scholars, and promote the mission of the center.
Applications deadlines:
Winter term: Monday, 9 November 2009
Spring term: Monday, 1 February 2010
The UNESCO Intern Program seeks one graduate and one undergraduate student during each term of the 2009/2010 academic year to assist the Director and Assistant Director in the operations and programming of the center. In addition, the interns will help the Director in his role as Coordinator for the UNITWIN network on Interreligious Dialogue for Intercultural Understanding.
Academic Credit and Commitment: Each intern is expected to commit 80-100 hours per term (8-10 hours per week). The intern can earn 2-3 credits in his/her own department or through one of the center’s affiliated faculty.

Interns duties are focused around Community Engagement/Communications and Program Development which include:
– Create and manage a network community through social media
– Manage website
– Enhance visibility of center through promotion and outreach
– Research and write grants
– Develop and implement on-campus programs for 2009/2010 academic year
– Collaborate with campus and community members to support existing programs like the Beyond War film series
– Communicate with UNESCO Chairs regarding network collaborations, meetings and individual research
– Develop proposal for collaborative project (project should relate to intern’s academic or personal interests and the mission of the center).
Internships will be selected on a per-term basis, with preference given towards applicants who are interested in a two- to three-term commitment. Preference will be to award one undergraduate internship and one graduate internship, though final selection will be based upon qualifications of applicant pool.
Interns will report to the assistant director of the Center for Intercultural Dialogue.
