Volunteer for the 2009 UNESCO Chairs Conference
The Center for Intercultural Dialogue is currently seeking volunteers for the upcoming “Ethics, Religion, and the Environment” Conference and the 2009 Meeting of the UNESCO Chairs within the UNITWIN Network on Interreligous Dialogue for Intercultural Understanding.
We need volunteers to help out in the days and weeks before the event, as well as during the conference itself (May 8-12). We will have a mandatory volunteer meeting for all event volunteers on Wednesday, April 29 at 6 pm in Lawrence Hall, Room 115.

Event Volunteers
General volunteers will be needed for all-day coverage of the conference. Shifts will generally consist of morning, afternoon or evening hours between May 8-12; these volunteers must be flexible and willing to help out as needed. Attendance at the volunteer training meeting is mandatory.
Communications Committee
Poster distribution - need volunteers to assist with distributing posters around the community and on campus, April 20 - May 4.
Community Liaison Committee
Assist coordinators in identifying groups, organizations, and individuals within the community who have a direct or related interest to “Ethics, Religion, and the Environment.”
* Pre-conference support:
o Need two or more Community Liasion volunteers to aid committee heads with general tasks, April - May; this entail 2-4 hours per week
* Conference support, May 8-12:
o Need volunteers for JSMA exhibit "Building a culture of peace", May 8-11; experience with museum studies or exhibit design preferable, shifts TBD
o General volunteer support May 8-12, shifts TBD
Hospitality Committee
Assist the Hospitality Coordinators in creating a welcoming, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all the “Ethics, Religion, and the Environment” Conference participants—especially the UNESCO Chairs during their stay in Eugene.
Logistics Committee
The Logistics Commitee provides necessary assistance and addresses the technical needs of conference events and programs. This includes room set up, transportation, and trouble-shooting.
Conference support, May 8-12:
* Certified Van Drivers
o Drivers will transport Conference Chairs using university vans. MUST be van certified through the University of Oregon; training sessions are scheduled for April 24th and May 5th.
* Tech Support
o Volunteers will assist at all events requiring A/V equipment for set up and troubleshooting; shifts TBD. Tech support volunteers must have computer and A/V skills, particularly experience with projectors.
* Campus Guides
o Guide conference participants to find relevant locations on campus. Volunteers must be personable; bilingual is helpful; shifts TBD.
* Ushers
o Ushers are needed for an afternoon event at the Robinson Theater on Monday, May 12th.
* General Help
o General Logistics volunteers will be on hand for events that require set up and take down. This may entail heavy lifting; shifts TBD.
